What is the Milk Stash and how do I turn it on?
Milk Stash is a freezer / fridge inventory for pumped milk — off by default for each child. The fastest way to turn it on is to log a pump session: right after, a Save it to {childName}'s stash? card appears with a one-tap Yes, track my stash.
Milk Stash tracks individual pumped bags through their lifecycle — fresh fridge, freezer, thawed, used, or lost. The headline number is days of coverage — how long your stash will last at your baby's current intake.
Turning it on for a child.
Milk Stash isn't on by default. You can't turn it on from chat — it's a tap in the app, in either of two places:
- After a pump log. The first time you log a pumping session for a child whose stash isn't on, a Save it to {childName}'s stash? card appears. Tap Yes, track my stash and the pump that triggered the card becomes your first stash bag.
- From the Milk Stash screen. Open the menu on the right → Milk Stash. If stash is off for the active child, the screen shows the same Yes, track my stash card.
Happyly only asks once per child — once you've answered (yes or not now), it won't ask again for that child.
Where it lives once on.
The menu on the right gets a Milk Stash entry. It opens a two-column view: fridge bags (use first) and freezer bags (long-term). Each bag shows the volume, location, and date pumped.
Adding a bag.
Open Milk Stash → Add a bag. Volume, location (fridge or freezer), and the date you pumped it.
Moving a bag.
Tap the bag → Move. Pick fridge → freezer (when you're banking it for later) or freezer → thawed (when you're getting ready to use it).
Using a bag.
When you bottle-feed and Milk Stash is on, the bottle log will offer to attach the oldest fridge bag automatically. Tap to confirm or skip.
Lost bags.
Freezer fail, spilled, or had to discard? Tap the bag → Mark lost. The reason (power outage, spilled, expired, etc.) is a neutral tag — never a blame line.
Triage and rebuild.
If you've had a power outage or moved freezers, Milk Stash has a Triage flow (smell-check, partial loss) and a Rebuild flow (re-enter the actual physical count). Both are at the top of the Milk Stash screen.
