How do I manage push notifications?
My Account → Notifications. Enable on this device, set quiet hours, mute by family, or hide message previews. Hand-off pushes are time-sensitive — they come through quiet hours by default.
Happyly's push notifications cover the two things you actually want to know about in real time: a new Family Chats message and a hand-off of the watch. Everything is off until you opt in.
Enable on this device.
My Account → Notifications → Enable on this device. Your browser will ask for permission once. Pushes are tied to the browser on the device you tap from — enable on each device you use (phone, laptop, work computer). Send a test push from the same screen to confirm it arrived.
On iPhone.
iOS only delivers web pushes from apps installed to the Home Screen. In Safari, tap the Share icon and choose Add to Home Screen — then open Happyly from the Home Screen icon and enable notifications from there.
What you can toggle.
Four master switches sit under the enable buttons:
- Notify me about new chats — Default on. Drops a push when a caregiver sends a message in any of your threads.
- Notify me about hand-offs — Default on. Drops a push when a co-parent hands the watch off to you or accepts a hand-off you sent.
- Notify me if voice is left running — Default on. A quiet reminder if you switch away from the coach with realtime voice still active, so you don't keep an open mic running.
- Hide message previews — Off by default. When on, chat pushes read "Sarah sent a quick note" instead of showing the message body. Useful if your lock screen is visible to others.
Quiet hours.
Pick a From and To time. During those hours, chat pushes are held back and delivered when the window ends. Hand-offs are time-sensitive — they bypass quiet hours by default so a 3am hand-off still wakes you. Flip Apply quiet hours to hand-offs too if you'd rather hand-off pushes wait until morning.
Mute by family.
If you're a guest in more than one Happyly household (you co-parent for one family, babysit for another), each family lists a Mute messages from {family} and Mute hand-offs from {family} toggle. Lets you stay reachable for the family you're actively watching without getting buzzed by the other.
Turn off on this device.
Use Turn off on this device in the same card. The button only affects the current browser — your other devices keep their settings. Turning notifications off in your phone or browser settings does the same thing if you'd rather work from there.
Send a test.
If you're not sure a push is set up, tap Send test. If it doesn't arrive, the most common causes are: notifications not enabled in your browser, the browser tab being fully closed (on iPhone you need to have added Happyly to your Home Screen — see above), or your phone's Do-Not-Disturb / Focus mode being on.
